The "Wanpipe Voice RTP TAP" is used to tap voice channels at the driver/kernel level during Asterisk-Zaptel or TDM API operation mode.   All tapped voice channels, in Wanpipe driver,  are encapsulated in UDP and RTP headers and transmitted over the neighbouring  Ethernet card, withing the kernel.   Since data never leaves the kernel the tapping feature is super efficient.  Tapping 4 E1s worth of voice takes only 2% of overall system load.

Wanpipe Drivers
  1. Wanpipe Stable Drivers Download
    --> This feature is supported from wanpipe-3.2.4.tgz release on.

  2. Install Wanpipe Drivers based on Installation Instructions

Wanpipe Driver Configuration

Current wanpipe configurators do not have RTP configuration options in them.  These features will be added into wanpipe configurators in next release.   At this point, its best to use wancfg_zaptel to configure wanpipe/zaptel/zapata and then edit wanpipe configuration files manually and add RTP TAP features.

  1. Configure wanpipe / zaptel.conf / zapata.conf
    --> /usr/sbin/wancfg_zaptel
         Proceed with configuration based on your telco parameters
         (T1/E1 Framing, PRI, Contexts)

  2. After successful configuration edit each wanpipe#.conf in /etc/wanpipe directory and add the following

    RTP_TAP_IP=192.168.1.240
    RTP_TAP_MAC=00:09:1B:89:61:BC
    RTP_TAP_PORT=9000
    RTP_TAP_SAMPLE=100
    RTP_TAP_DEV=eth0
    #Remote Server Address
    #Remote Server MAC
    #Starting UDP Port
    #RTP packet lenting in ms (100ms * 8 = 800 bytes)
    #Local eth interface to send UDP data to

    .
  3. Sample wanpipe RTP config file wanpipe1.conf
