Wanpipe WAN IP API

Sangoma AFT & S514 cards combined with Wanpipe Driver/Protocol Suite supports number or Wan/API products/protocols.

The Sangoma AFT DATA API is common DATA (non-voice) api for all Sangoma Hardware.

  1. AFT A101/2/4/8 (T1/E1)
  2. AFT A14X (V35 RS232 Serial)

The Sangoma AFT API supports following operation modes:

  1. HDLC Mode
The sample application runs on top of a hdlc interface and receives
HDLC formated frames.  HDLC framing is done in AFT hardware.

  2. Transparent (Bitstreaming) Mode
The sample application runs on top of a raw transparent interface and receives
all bits on the line in configurable block size.  HDLC framing is turned off in hardware.
  3. Protocol API Mode
The AFT API can run on top of a protocol interface such as: PPP, CHDLC, ATM, Frame Relay.
We treat the protocol interface as data pump and are able to receive and transmit
protocol payload only.  The interface protocol in the driver is responsible for attaching
appropriate protocol headers on tx and rx.

Note: S514 cards are End of Life.

For each protocol click to view Installation, Configuration and Operation Documents.

Legend:

  • LIP: Link Interface Protocol Stack
LIP is a Sangoma Protocol Stack designed to separate WAN/API Protocols from AFT/S514 Hardware drivers.  Furthermore, LIP Protocol stack is OS in depended and supports Binary Protocols.
Any protocol within the LIP layer can work with both AFT and S514 cards.
Legacy protocols not in LIP layer can only work with legacy S514 cards.
  • MPAPI: Multi-Protocol API (Linux only)
MPAPI Stack was written for X25/LAPB protocol.
MPAPI X25 can run on multiple S514 ports (Primary and Secondary).
The LIP stack was based on the MPAPI stack.
