What is Asterisk?

Asterisk is the world’s leading open source PBX. Asterisk can be configured as the core of an IP or hybrid PBX, switching calls, managing routes, enabling features, and connecting callers with the outside world over IP, analog (POTS), and digital (T1/E1) connections.

Sangoma & Asterisk

  • Our A200/A400 cards will connect Asterisk directly with POTS lines. You can also use these cards to connect internal analog phones as well as Fax machines to Asterisk.
  • Our A100 cards connect Asterisk directly with a T1/E1 connection. The connection can go to ether telco or another PBX.
  • Our A500 cards will connect Asterisk to a BRI connection. The connection can go to ether telco or another PBX.

Wanpipe Drivers

Latest STABLE & BETA Sangoma wanpipe releases support ALL Asterisk/Zaptel Versions.

Sangoma recommends that you always use STABLE drivers unless a feature or hardware is currently not supported by a STABLE release.  In that case a BETA release should be used.

Sangoma is actively developing device drivers and applications for Asterisk and other TDM voice solutions.  Please read the announcement page and driver release change logs for more info.

Supported Versions of Asterisk/Zaptel

Latest STABLE & BETA Sangoma wanpipe releases support ALL Asterisk/Zaptel Versions.
If new zaptel/asterisk release breaks sangoma compatibility an update will be provided within ONE business day.

Please add a section for TDM + WAN setup. There are the sections for either one but no section on how to do both. I have tdm setup for my asterisk box and working well but want to use most of the channels for data. I am afraid to mess with it because its all working properly. So maybe a section on how to specifically split your t1 to work with data and zaptel instead of seperate sections that you have to merge together and figure out what you need to modify, etc.

in the appendix in the install zaptel for conary based platforms (asterisknow and business edition) make sure to add the step make modules_prepare right before attempting to do a make in zaptel source dir or it will fail, at least it did for me
