    Introduction

    Sangoma Media Gateway (SMG) is a newly redesigned signalling and media gateway that provides VoIP/SIP to TDM connectivity empowered by Sangoma's AFT line of telephony cards.  SMG is a compact stand-alone software package that runs on top of Sangoma's AFT series of Telephony cards, T1/E1, BRI, Analog. 

    SMG Features Highlight

    • SMG supports SIP natively, it can operate as a standalone VoIP to TDM (SS7, ISDN-PRI-BRI) Gateway
      SMG exports all SS7 and ISDN parameters via SIP custom X headers.
    • SMG can operate in SIP Trunking Mode as a Session Border Controller. 
    • SMG supports all Sangoma TDM hardware as well as Media Transcoding hardware.
    • SMG supports an extensive IP based CLI.  
      CLI users can connect to SMG from a local machine or from remote servers.
    • SMG supports and extensive XML Dialplan.
      Customers can create complex applications and routing plans. 
    • SMG is built on top of FreeSWITCH framework.
      FreeSWITCH customers can run their existing dialplan applications directly on SMG.

    SMG  Asterisk, FreeSWITCH and Third Party Integration

    • Asterisk, FreeSWITCH and other VoIP projects will communicate to SMG via SIP interface.
    • SMG has deep integration with Asterisk:
      Custom Asterisk dialplan application is provided to automatically expose all SS7 variables stored in SIP X headers to Asterisk Dialplan and vice versa.
    • SMG CLI can be run inside Asterisk CLI providing a single point of configuration, operation and debugging.

    SMG as a FreeSWITCH Platform

    • SMG is build using FreeSWITCH project.
    • SMG product offers a STABLE version of FreeSWITCH that is supported by Sangoma.
    • SMG releases are stress tested by Sangoma QA team.  Every release is tested with 32E1/T1 to SIP load tests as well as battery of
