Sangoma AFT Hardware Matrix

The following table provides a overview of Sangoma AFT products.
The fist column is a Marketing Product Name as seen on www.sangoma.com. The second column is a Developers Product Name as shown by a driver hardware probe. Developers can use the following information to prase all versions of Sangoma hardware. The third column is a Product Type, AFT T1/E1 cards are either PMC or Maxim based. The fourth column is Product Status: indicates the lifecycle of an AFT product. The fifth column is a Serial Number/SKU that one can use to identify the card type.  Click here for matrix.

AFT Serial Numbers

The AFT serial numbers have not followed a predictive pattern over the years.  As the cards changed the serial numbers have NOT followed suit.  Therefore, as of right now one cannot distinguish with complete certainty the AFT card features from the serial numbers alone.  Sangoma is in a process of upgrading all serial numbers to better reflect hardware changes in the future.  One can expect this change to occur in next 3 months.

Sangoma Serial numbers are as follows:

First 8 to 9 digits before "-" indicate a card type and features
Following 5 digits after "-" indicate a serial number of a card

eg: A10404U-0001
     Card type: A104 - Ports 4 - Feature: Unchannelized/Channelized
     Serial number: 1

Inital AFT series cards worked in Unchannelized and Channelized modes.  Wanpipe drivers indicated this feature in hardware probe information by adding a "u" or a "c" to the card type.  Example "A101u" indicated an unchannelized card and "A101c" indicated a channelized card. 

In March of 2006, with the arrival of "Shark" based AFT cards,  Sangoma has decided to drop the unchannelized AFT cards and start distributing only the channelized versions. 

All "Shark" based AFT cards are channelized, and old pre-shark AFT cards were reprogrammed to channelized  mode from March 2006.  The only way to distinguish whether an old "pre-shark" card is channelized or unchannelized is to look at the serial number itself or via driver hardware probe.
