Configure Media Interfaces
List Media Server Interfaces
The appliance processes the all media traffic by using media server chips. The media server chips are located on the the D500 media adapters and a media adapters contains up to 5 media server chips. For each media server chips, the user should allocate an IP address and provide other IP parameters such as the netmask and default gateway IP address.
To list and configure media server chips installed in your appliance:
- Select Configuration -> Network from side menu
- Select Media Server Interfaces
If you performing the operation for the first time, the application will show you a media server detection wizards (see here for more details) otherwise you will see the following screen.

Media Server Detection Wizard
To detect media server chips installed in your appliance:
- Select Configuration -> Network from side menu
- Select Detect Interfaces

- If you have multiple NetBorder Transcoding Appliances in your network, it is important to disconnect the Ethernet cable from all D500 cards before you run the wizard.
When you click in the detect button, the wizard detects every media server module installed in your appliance and it also generate configuration data for each module. Every modules will have the same Network Mask and Default Gateway. Of course, it assigns a different IP address for each media server module discovered. The first module IP address will be Base IP Address, the second module IP address will Base IP Address + 1, the third module IP address will be Base IP Address + 2 and so on.
For example, if the appliance as single D500 with five media module and Base IP Address is 192.168.1.166, the IP addresses will be assigned as follow:

Edit Media Module Parameters
- Select Configuration -> Network from side menu
- Select Media Server Interfaces
- Click on the Edit button of the module for which you want to change the parameters.

| Parameter Name | Allowed values | Description |
| Enable | true, false | Allows you to enable or disable a media server module. Disabling a media server module reduces the system capacity. |
| IP address | Dotted IPv4 address | Static IP address assigned to this module |
| Network mask | Dotted IPv4 mask |
The Netmask, together with the IP address, defines the network the media module belongs to. This value is usually some like: 255.255.255.0. |
| Gateway | Dotted IPv4 address | Specify the IP address of default gateway of the network. The gateway is the node on network that when the destination IP address does not match any other routes in the routing table. |
| First RTP and Last RTP ports | 0-65535 | Specify the UDP port range [First, Last) that will be used for the RTP and RTCP traffic coming that media module. Event ports are reserved for RTP and Odd ports are reserved for RTCP traffic. |
