Configure Media Profiles

    List Media Profiles

    To list all Media profiles:

    1. Select Configuration -> VoIP from side menu 
    2. Select Media Profile

    View/Edit Media Profile

    To view or edit a MEdia profile

    1. Select Configuration -> VoIP from side menu 
    2. Select Media Profile
    3. Click on the Edit button of a specific Media profile

    Parameter Name Allowed values Description
    Codec #1-#6

    refer to list in the WEBUI

    Specify all codecs, payload size (in millisecond), payload type (PT) and preferred rate (Kbps) supported by this audio profile.

    You can specify up to 6 codecs per media profile.

    Codec#1 is the preferred and Codec #6 is the less preferred codec 

    Codec Negociation Mode

    Prefer-Remote

    Prefer-Local

    Specify how to perform codec selection.

    Prefer-Remote, in this mode the appliance gives precedence to the remote codec preference during the codec negotiation.  This is the negotiation mode recommended by the IETF.

    Prefer-Local, in this mode the appliance gives precedence to the local codec preference during the codec negotiation. 
    Enable Silence Suppression enable/disable Enable or not the silence suppression.  When silence suppression is enabled each RTP session will utilises less bandwidth during silence period of the audio call.  
    DTMF Mode

    Inband

    RFC2833

    Indicate how DTMF digits will transmitted and received.

    Inband, means that DTMF digits will be carried in the audio signal.  This is not recommended for most codecs.

    RFC2833, means that DTMF digits will be carried in the RTP stream in different RTP packets than the audio signal (as defined in RFC2833).
